Want to create compelling copy at warp speed? Luckily, there are a few powerful AI copywriting tools that can help you do it.

These tools can create client personas, write social media posts in your voice, and generate an article outline in less than 30 seconds.

You can get them to understand your audience’s deepest fears and desires and put them into vivid, persuasive words to create an emotional impact.

But here’s the problem: there are actually quite few of these AI tools available these days, so where do you start? Which one is best for your needs?

Don’t worry, I’ve rounded up 10 of the best copywriting tools AI has to offer, so your search can end here.

And better yet, as a professional ghostwriter who has used AI to write thousands of words — I’ll give you a little advice about how to get the most out of these tools.

Ready to hire your next AI-powered writing assistant?

Let’s get started!

What is AI Copywriting?

AI copywriting is the use of artificial intelligence to generate high-quality written content.

You’ll communicate with most AI tools through “prompting” — writing a question or typing instructions into a chat field, and then the AI will give you a response. Other AI tools will have you copy/paste your copy into a field, and it will scan it for plagiarism, check grammar or give you suggestions for improvement.

Some of the AI tools on this list are specifically geared towards writers (like Quillbot or Jasper), and others are general AI tools that happen to excel in writing copy (Chat GPT and Claude).

Some writers have embraced the use of AI to streamline their writing process and fuel ideation, while others have outright rejected it as “cheating” or simply been scared to try it due to a perceived learning curve (they aren’t that hard to use!).

Personally, as a full-time writer, I find AI tools invaluable to the speed, efficiency and even the quality of my writing. But here’s the thing: I don’t let AI do all the work for me.

So before we get into the hotlist of 10 best AI copywriting tools, let’s talk a little about how to use these tools the right way.

How to Get the Most Out of Your AI Copywriting Tools

Copywriting with AI is not an “easy button”.

You don’t just say “write me a blog post about the best smartwatches in 2024” and then immediately publish whatever your AI tool spits out.

First of all, that prompt is is much too simple. Second of all, AI copywriting needs plenty of editing by human hand.

Here are a few helpful tips for making AI copywriting tools work for you:

  • Give lots of detail in your prompts — give your AI instructions about voice, style, target audience, and any other detail you can think of.
  • Feed your AI tool samples of your own writing, or a sample from whoever you want the AI to emulate. Ask it to describe the tone and style of the writing sample, then use that description in your next writing prompt.
  • Have AI write content one small chunk at a time, and give it feedback for each chunk. Walk it through the content creation process.
  • When you produce a full draft of your copy, heavily edit it using your own human eye. Inject your own personality (or your brand’s) personality where it’s missing. Tone down anything that sounds too over the top (AI-writers are known for flowery, sometimes cliched language).

When I am ghostwriting content for my clients, I find it works best to think of my AI tool as a slightly incompetent but hard-working intern. It works hard (and it never gets tired!), but it needs a lot of direction.

I also love to use AI simply for ideation. For example, once I needed to create an X/Twitter thread for my client based on a podcast, so I told fed the AI the podcast transcript and told it “give me 10 ideas for X/Twitter threads based on this transcript”. It definitely got my creative juices flowing much quicker than just staring at a blank screen or combing through the podcast transcript myself.

Alright then, now that you know how to use AI copywriting tools effectively, let’s get into that list!

10 Best AI Copywriting Tools That’ll Supercharge Your Content Creation

Are you ready to meet your new AI copywriting intern (or interns)?

In alphabetical order, here are the top AI copywriting tools that’ll give your content a boost and transform your digital writing game…

1. ChatGPT

Price: Free, $20/month (Plus)

ChatGPT is one of the best AI writing tools available. I’ve personally used it to help me write blog posts, social media posts, and even an online course.

It’s incredibly fast, and the company behind it, OpenAI, is always coming out with new, better versions.

ChatGPT is very simple, too — you give it a prompt, and it generates a response.

Let’s say you’re working on a series of blog posts about AI advancements. ChatGPT can provide you with an AI-generated outline in minutes, saving you hours of brainstorming.

Then you can either write the post yourself, or feed the outline back ChatGPT and have it take a crack at writing it.

With ChatGPT, you’re also not confined to technical topics; you can leverage it for a wide range of genres, from lifestyle and fashion to health and wellness.

While the outputs require a touch of human intervention for tone consistency, it’s a small trade-off considering the hours you save.

Plus, the tool learns from your feedback, continually improving its writing style to match yours.

2. Copysmith

Price: Free trials are available, see site for pricing on specific products.

Copysmith is an AI powerhouse that offers several writing-related AI products.

They offer three main AI tools:

  • Ryter: Designed to help with 40+ different content types
  • Describely: For writing ecommerce product descriptions and more
  • Fraise: Geared toward SEO-optimized blog content

Copysmith’s versatility in offerings makes it a valuable resource for writers, marketers, and entrepreneurs.

Let’s say you’re launching a new product, and you need to create compelling product descriptions and marketing copy. With Describely, you can input your product’s key features, and within minutes, it will generate copy that highlights these features in an engaging and persuasive manner.

And if you’re writing an SEO-focused blog post, Fraise can help you research, write and optimize your blog all in one tool.

Copysmith products can also create variations of your input, providing you with a range of options to choose from.

While Copysmith might not be the first choice for long-form content, its flexibility and ease of use make it a valuable asset for diverse content needs.

3. Copy AI

Price: Free, $36/month (Pro)

Copy AI is an AI tool known for it’s user-friendly interface. So if you’re worried about learning how to use AI, and like to keep things simple, this tool might be for you.

Copy AI offers both sales and marketing operating systems powered by AI. Within the marketing OS, you can turn a content brief into a blog post, conduct competitor research, turn a document into a press release and even scrape a URL and create ad copy from it.

For example, maybe you need to generate ideas for social media posts for your upcoming digital marketing campaign. With Copy.ai, you can enter a URL and a customer persona, and it’ll generate 4 variations of Facebook ads for you.

Plus, its “autopilot” feature allows you to give directions and suggestions, and the AI takes it from there, providing AI generated content that aligns with your guidelines.

The downsides? Some of the outputs may not have the depth of a seasoned copywriter. But the tool’s ability to generate a wide range of content quickly is a major time-saver.

4. Jasper

Price: Free trial, $39/month (Creator), $59/month (Pro)

Jasper is a dynamic writing tool that excels in crafting engaging digital marketing AI copy. From social media posts to high-converting ad copy, Jasper can adapt to various tones and styles, allowing you to maintain your unique brand voice across platforms.

One of its notable features is the “Explain It To A Child” mode, which simplifies complex concepts into easy-to-understand language. Who wouldn’t love that?

However, just like any AI tool, it’s not perfect.

Occasional semantic errors can creep in, requiring a human touch for corrections. But the high-quality, creative content it produces often outweighs these small hiccups.

For best results, provide Jasper with clear and detailed instructions.

For instance, instead of saying “write a blog post about fitness,” try “write an engaging blog post about five easy exercises for beginners to maintain fitness.” (And take it one section at a time if you need to!)

5. QuillBot

Price: Free trial, $8.33/month (Premium)

QuillBot stands out as a unique AI tool that combines writing and paraphrasing capabilities. It shines in giving existing content a fresh spin, helping you avoid repetition while preserving the original message.

With its different modes, such as “Fluency,” “Standard,” and “Creative,” you can tailor the output to your preferred style.

However, QuillBot might not be the first choice for entirely fresh, AI-generated content, as its strength lies mainly in refining and rephrasing existing text.

Yet, QuillBot can be an excellent tool for students and researchers looking to avoid plagiarism or rewrite their content to achieve a better flow and improved readability.

6. Smart Copy

Price: Free, $19/month (Essential), $49/month (Unlimited)

Smart Copy (part of Unbounce) is the AI copywriting software you need if generating email copy, catchy taglines, or compelling call-to-actions is your main concern. It shines in short-form content creation, making it ideal for businesses focusing on email marketing or social media engagement.

However, just like other tools, some of the content might require manual editing for contextual understanding and tone consistency.

Here’s a quick tip…

Use Smart Copy’s email subject line generator for your marketing campaigns. It’s designed to create engaging, click-worthy subject lines that can significantly boost your open rates.

7. Wordtune

Price: Free, $9.99/month (Unlimited)

Wordtune specializes in editing and refining existing content, ensuring your text sounds natural, fluent, and is contextually accurate.

Whether you’re drafting an email or perfecting a blog post, Wordtune can help polish your writing, eliminating any awkward phrasing.

However, if you’re looking for an AI tool to generate entirely new high quality content, Wordtune might not be the top choice as its strength lies in enhancing and fine-tuning what’s already there.

But it can be a great tool for non-native English speakers, helping to refine language and improve overall text readability and coherence.

8. Writer

Price: Free trial, $18/month (Team)

Stepping into the arena as a strong contender, Writer is an AI-powered tool that prides itself on delivering high-quality, customizable content.

Tailored specifically for businesses, Writer focuses on maintaining brand consistency across all pieces of content, which is a critical aspect of any successful content strategy.

Writer understands your brand’s style guide, tone, and voice, and then applies these elements to the AI content it generates.

The tool also offers real-time writing feedback and correction suggestions, which can be incredibly useful for crafting polished content.

Plus, it offers comprehensive language support with over 50 languages, which is a game-changer for businesses with an international audience.

Although Writer is robust and feature-rich, it’s worth noting that it might not be the best fit for individual freelancers or small-scale requirements, given its business-centric orientation.

But for enterprises seeking a comprehensive solution for maintaining a unified brand voice across all content, Writer is a fantastic option.

9. Writesonic

Price: Free trial, $20/month (Individual)

Writesonic is a potent AI copywriting tool that offers a host of features help with your content creation. From blog post drafts to ad copy, product descriptions to landing pages, Writesonic has you covered. This makes it an ideal choice for businesses with diverse content needs.

Writesonic’s unique selling proposition is its multilingual capabilities.

Need a blog post in French or a product description in Spanish? Writesonic has the ability to generate high quality content in several languages, making it an excellent choice for businesses aiming for a global outreach.

While it is a highly versatile tool, it’s important to note that the content might sometimes feel a bit generic.

But with a bit of manual editing and personalization, you can infuse it with your brand’s unique voice.

10. Claude

Price: $20/Month (Pro)

Anthropic’s Claude is a direct competitor to ChatGPT. Though in my eyes, it’s a better writer.

Like ChatGPT, it uses a simple prompt and response process, and the more detailed your prompts, the better output you’re going to get.

Claude is the same price as ChatGPT, so no difference there.

ChatGPT may have a leg up on Claude when it comes to multimodal features (image generation, voice interaction), web browsing, and custom GPTs.

But if you’re just looking for a content writing tool, Claude may be a better option. I’ve personally found that Claude can match my clients’ voice better, and sounds much more human.
